Worth every cent!

I have been using grinder for about a month now and it is exceptional. It looks stunning. The fit and finish is superb with nice clean lines. The grinder is solid in both its construction and grinding capabilities. The portafilter holder was perfectly set up by the factory so i didn't have to make any adjustments to the holder straight out of the box. The grinds a very even, light and fluffy with no clumping. The grinds fall directly in the centre of my 58mm portafilter with no stray grinds landing on the counter top making it very clean. The worm gear adjustment is precise and easy to use when making small adjustments to your coffee allowing for consistent espresso every shot. The grinder was pretty close to being dialled in from the ECM factory. I only had to make 1 full turn on the worm gear to a finer setting to achieve the extraction i wanted. This grinder is fast! I dose 14g in 4.4 seconds. The timed dosing is consistent with only a 1g varience at worst. Most of the time it doses with in 0.5g meaning there is virtually no wastage. Id expect this grinder to dose 18g in about 6-7 seconds. The manual grinding function is precise and easy to use. Changing the timed dosing settings is easy. The instructions that come with the grinder a clear and easy to understand. The grinder comes with a 1kg hopper as standard. My kitchen cabinets are about 18" from my bench top making the total size of the grinder too tall to fit under the cabinetry with the 1kg hopper. I was aware of this before purchasing so bought a 500g hopper that comes standard on other ECM or Profitec grinders and replaced it. The grinder fits perfectly with this modification. If there is one thing I would like ECM to modify it is being able to access the grinding chamber easily without losing your grind setting. Its not a big deal for me but it may be a consideration for those coffee enthusiasts who clean out the grinding chamber very regularly. Another point to mention is that this grinder is designed specifically for espresso based coffees. If you do a wide range of different coffees at home from espresso to cold press, drip filter etc then you would want a grinder that can adjust grind size much more quickly. Using the worm gear to create coarser grinds can easily be done on this grinder however it would take a long time to do it making it frustrating. To sum it up this grinder is brilliant and a pleasure to use. It is worth every cent and probably the last grinder you would ever need buy. Given the quality of this grinder I have no doubt it will still be working long after i've left this planet and could be handed down to family members to continue enjoying long into the future.

Wow, what a gorgeous looking machine as well as an excellent grinder. Easy to work with and can select automated timer grind as well as manual grind. The grind adjustment is superb and can adjust easily by fractions. We really enjoy working with it and producing great coffees.
