The Lelit PL41TEMD is a good quality Italian espresso machine capable of making cafe quality coffee at home. The built in PID temperature controller ensures stable brew water temperature which is vital for great tasting espresso. The PID also controls the steam pressure to ensure strong, consistent steam. The stainless steel and brass construction ensures a long service life.

The PL41TEMD has a 3 way valve so that the group handle can be immediately removed after brewing. This valve also allows the machine to be backflushed. This feature makes the machine easy to use and easy to clean.

The Lelit PL41TEMD has a built in brew pressure gauge which shows whether the brew pressure is optimal. (Too little pressure indicates an under extraction, too much pressure indicates an over extraction). The gauge will also indicate when maximum pressure is reached while backflushing - so that you know when to turn the pump off.

For the first time on a Lelit model, the PL41TEMD has a true 9BAR OPV fitted. This ensures the brew is at the optimal pressure so that bitter coffee does not result as a consequence of high brew pressure. This pressure will be able to be read off the brew pressure gauge when extracting a shot.

Perfect espresso in a compact, elegant unit

Having used this machine every day for over 2 years, I've been very impressed with the Lelit Anna's ability to produce a consistent espresso worthy of a professional machine. It's about equal to a Rancilio Silvia, but with the advantage that the smaller Lelit boiler heats up in 5-10 minutes versus the Silvia's 30 minutes. For best results, I'd recommend using a stepless grinder like my Lelit PL43MMI, which I also rate 5 stars. If you're interested in further optimising your espresso, the Lelit 57mm naked portafilter will help you identify any channelling or inconsistency in puck preparation, and there's something beautiful about that laminar flow when you get it right. By the way, the most practical way to fill the water tank is using a funnel, to avoid fiddling around. In addition to producing perfect espressi, Anna looks nice in a retro-industrial way and is more a prosumer than a consumer machine. The PID temperature control is brilliant, and the pressure gauge is also helpful. PS. The quality of the espresso is easily better than my previous Gaggia Classic - a very good machine by any standard, but no match for my Lelit.

Thought I'd wait a year at least to give a good perspective based on experience. It's actually been closer to 18 months since I bought it, and I've been very happy with it. Pulls consistently good shots, definitely worth getting the PID to prevent 'guessing' the water temperature at extraction. Nothing has gone wrong with the machine, I perform regular weekly flush plus monthly clean/maintenance. I drink 1-2 coffees a day, paired with a Lelit PL44 grinder. Doesn't take up much bench space which was important to me, great little espresso machine for the serious at-home coffee snob!

Early days, but very happy

Only had the machine running for a few days, replaced a much loved Gaggia Classic that I'd worn out. The Lelit is solidly built, I love the PID and am already pulling shots from it that I am very happy with.

Quality and reliability

Had this machine shipped from Sydney to Cairns without hitches. Has been going strong for 2 years without a hint of problems. Not bulky, looks good, great build quality and coupled with a nice grinder and fresh beans makes lovely coffee. Like all single boilers it is not efficient at making lattes but luckily am an espresso drinker. Brings a smile to my face every morning. Very happy with the service from Jet Black and absolutely no regrets on purchasing this machine.
