Aurora Brugnetti parts

The Brugnetti Aurora is a compact single-group commercial lever machine, and plenty of owners keep these machines running long after they first left the factory. Keeping one on the bench is a rewarding project, and the right small parts make a big difference to how well it seals, brews and holds pressure.

The group head seal

The seal around the group head is what keeps the portafilter watertight when pressure builds. Over time it hardens and flattens, and you will notice water seeping out around the portafilter or a portafilter that locks too far round. Seals are made in slightly different sizes, so even a small difference in thickness changes how well the portafilter sits.

Portafilters

A portafilter takes a lot of heat and handling. Check the basket seat, the bayonet lugs and the handle for wear, and make sure it locks securely. If you are upgrading, remember that the portafilter and the seal work as a pair.

How to check fit

Do not assume a part fits because the brand name matches. Older Aurora and Brugnetti machines vary by version. Measure the inside and outside diameter and the thickness of your old seal, note any markings, and take clear photos of the part and the group head. The machine's model name or serial plate is also useful.

Frequently asked questions

Look for water leaking around the portafilter, a portafilter that moves further round than it used to, or shots that lose pressure. A hardened or cracked seal is another sign.

Not necessarily. Seals vary in diameter and thickness between versions, so measure your old seal and compare it with the product details. If you are unsure, send us a photo.

Measure the outer diameter, inner diameter and thickness of the old seal or the portafilter basket diameter, and note the machine's model name or any stamped part numbers.
