Hottop Home Coffee Roasters

Hottop roasters are compact electric drum roasters made for home use. You load green beans, choose a roast level and the machine does the heating, tumbling and cooling in one benchtop unit.

Which Model Suits You

The Hottop B and P are the straightforward options for people who want to roast by the controls on the machine. The B2K+ adds a USB link, so you can monitor and run the roast from a computer using third-party software. It also uses two thermocouples, one reading the bean temperature and one the environment, and can store roast profiles for repeat batches. The P is a further option, so ask our team to compare current specifications.

Planning Your Roasting Space

Roasting makes smoke and chaff, so you need ventilation to the outdoors, ideally under a range hood. Batch capacity is modest, enough for a few cups of coffee a day, so think about how much you will drink between roasts. Fresh roasted coffee also needs resting before you brew it.

Pair It With the Right Gear

Fresh roasted beans reward a good grinder and a machine that can use them. Our showrooms in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Hobart, Newcastle and Kiama let you see grinders and machines in person, and our team can help you build a setup around your roaster.

Frequently asked questions

A drum roaster tumbles green coffee in a heated rotating drum, much like a larger cafe roaster does. Hottop applies that principle in a benchtop unit sized for home batches, with heat, airflow and cooling managed by the machine.

The B2K+ adds a USB connection so you can monitor and control the roast from a computer with third-party software, and uses two thermocouples, one for the beans and one for the environment. The B relies on its own controls.

Yes. Roasting produces smoke and chaff, so plan to vent the roaster outdoors, such as under a range hood. Place it away from smoke alarms and on a heat-safe, stable bench.

Hottop roasters are small batch machines. Capacity figures vary between sources and models, so check the current product specifications. Plan on roasting little and often, as freshly roasted coffee is usually enjoyed within a few weeks of roasting.

Green beans come from specialty green coffee suppliers and some roasters. Buy small amounts to begin with so you can learn how each origin roasts. Our team is happy to talk about the equipment side.
