BodyBrew BOD cold brew system

Cold brew is a gentle way to get coffee from grounds to glass. Instead of hot water, you use cold water and time, and the result is a smooth, mellow concentrate with less sharpness than a hot brew. The BOD is designed to make that process tidy and repeatable at home.

How the BOD works

Coarse ground coffee goes into the stainless steel filter basket, and you then add cold water and leave it to steep. Steeping time is typically anywhere from 12 to 24 hours. When it is ready, you flip the unit over, so the concentrate drains through the filter into the extract chamber. The stainless steel filter means there are no paper filters to buy.

Concentrate flexibility

What you pour off is a concentrate, not a ready to drink coffee. Dilute it with cold water, milk or tonic over ice, or add hot water for a hot cup that tastes less acidic than usual. Because it is concentrated, a small batch goes a long way, and it is best enjoyed within a week or two for the freshest flavour.

Built to be portable

The body is made from Tritan plastic, which is designed to be shatter resistant, and the system is modular and compact. It is easy to take to the office or to leave in the fridge without taking up much space.

Brewing tips

Grind coarse and consistently, as a fine grind clogs the filter and leaves a muddy, over extracted brew. Start with a medium roast bean, steep for around 16 to 18 hours and adjust the time up or down to taste. Keep the unit in the fridge while it steeps.

Frequently asked questions

Steeping usually takes between 12 and 24 hours. Start in the middle and adjust to taste: shorter steeps are lighter and brighter, while longer steeps are stronger and richer. Keep it in the fridge while it steeps.

Use a coarse grind, like coarse sea salt. A fine grind can clog the stainless filter and give a bitter, muddy result. If you do not own a grinder, ask us which grinder suits cold brew as well as espresso.

The result is a concentrate, so dilute it to taste. Add cold water, milk or ice for an iced coffee, or add hot water for a hot cup. Start with equal parts concentrate and water and adjust from there.

Keep it sealed in the fridge, and drink it within a week or two for the best flavour. Fresh cold brew tastes best, so make smaller batches more often rather than a big batch that sits around.
