Heating Elements, Thermostats and Pressurestats
Three parts decide how your machine heats up and how steady it stays. The element supplies the heat, and the thermostat or pressurestat switches it on and off, so a failure in any of them shows up as a cold machine, unstable temperature or one that overheats.
Heating Elements
Elements are listed by diameter, wattage and the connection type, for example 1 inch or 1 1/4 inch bodies and spade connectors. Machine-specific elements for Bezzera, Cimbali Junior and Vibiemme sit beside universal sizes, with gaskets sold separately where they are needed.
Thermostats
A thermostat is a simple temperature switch. On simpler machines one controls brew temperature and another holds steam pressure at a higher setting, and a resettable safety cutout steps in if the primary control fails. When replacing one, match the trip temperature printed on the body, the contact type, the reset type and the mounting style.
Pressurestats
A pressurestat switches according to boiler pressure rather than temperature and is common on heat exchanger and commercial machines. Models such as the Mater Xp110 and Xp700 and the Expobar E608D are listed here.
Choosing and Fitting
Always unplug and let the machine cool before any work. Our workshop services espresso machines, and our team can help you confirm the right rating.
