What are filter baskets used for in coffee machines?

Filter baskets are essential components in espresso machines, holding the coffee grounds during brewing to ensure a rich and flavourful espresso shot.

How do I choose the right filter basket for my espresso machine?

Select a filter basket that matches your machine's specifications and your desired espresso strength. Consider the size and type, such as single or double shot baskets.

Why are espresso filter baskets important?

Espresso filter baskets impact the extraction process, affecting the taste and quality of your espresso. A well-fitted basket ensures even water flow and optimal flavour.

Can I use coffee filter baskets interchangeably between machines?

Not all coffee filter baskets are interchangeable. Check compatibility with your specific espresso machine model to ensure proper fit and function.

Are precision filter baskets worth the extra expense (over an OEM filter basket)?

A: Yes - precision filter baskets can significantly improve the consistency and quality of your espresso shots. Unlike standard OEM baskets, precision baskets are manufactured with tighter tolerances, more uniform hole patterns, and better build quality. This results in more even extraction, reduced channelling, and greater control over grind and dose. If you're chasing that next level of flavour clarity and consistency, especially with high-end grinders and machines, a precision basket is a small investment that can make a noticeable difference in your cup.
